About

Rotary Rooms is a puzzle dungeon game where each room is connected to the puzzle map you solve. Rotate and connect rooms to open the route. Once the exit is open, run along the path you solved to escape! Good luck!

**Hint based on player feedback - If the puzzle does not close, you did not complete it! It will close on its own! ;) Also the bottom right End Room orientation is to the left, not the right. We will address this confusion ASAP and thank you for playing!**

Features

- Rotate room tiles to build a connected dungeon path
- Explore generated room layouts
- Solve the dungeon map to unlock the way forward
- Reach the final room to complete the run

Controls

WASD  - Move
Mouse  Left Click - Interact with puzzle

Note from Devs:
Thank you for playing our game, this was made in 10 days for the jam and was a great experience for us. This was our first time trying procedural generation and linking it to a 2D map as well! We had intent for more levels but ran short for time, but either way, w
e hope you enjoyed it!

This game is very aesthetically pleasing to play. The sound effects, the movement of the character, the 2D puzzle. It felt really nice.

There were a couple issues in the puzzle like the bottom right sprite not showing the correct way (it's supposed to be facing left) and then the additional puzzle to the middle left needing to be connected since it wouldn't solve the puzzle without it being connected even though the beginning and end was all connected.

Another confusing aspect was the puzzle never closing out or you not being able to close out of it. It would be nice for the first doorway just to show locked or some sort of icon showing that the puzzle was solved or not.

The monsters being included in the puzzle felt out of place since I think the original idea was to have some sort of circuit feel to the puzzles which would have been enough. Maybe a glowing lit wire glowing as the puzzle was connected in the right order to tell the player they were connecting a wire/circuit even throughout the dungeon as you walked to the exit along the floor.

Otherwise everything else felt really nice. I really adore these kinds of puzzle games where you have to connect stuff together to solve the overall puzzle. It's a unique take on it with the dungeon feel to it. If the dungeon part could feel more organic or have obstacles, I think this game would really take off. Great work!!

You are absolutely right, this did start originally as a circuit puzzle with cables, but we refactored into a dungeon to try and fit a different theme, and it appears there were some issues in the refactor / sprite switch for this.

Yes, the bottom right End Room is supposed to be facing to the left for the solution. And there is a specific sprite that seems to be a trip up for most players now that it no longer makes logical sense as a wire circuit.

As for the puzzle, it does close but only on completion. Another sacrifice we had to make to solve another little issue because we ran out of time. Not the best implementation on my part, haha.

I appreciate all your feedback and detail though, this was a huge learning experience, and we will get these issues addressed for further playthroughs as soon as we can :)

Thank you for playing our game!
